Flat Iron: review

Flat Iron was highly recommended by my friends Kat and Dan, they even went to describe it as ‘EPIC’ so I just had to try it for my birthday meal the other weekend.

Is your Dad the same?

Sight Seeing And Face Scoffing

The day I decided to start blogging!!
My good friend Kat and I share a passion for all things food but in particular sweet treats! After doing a bit of research and reading several blogs we decided to embark on a day of exploring London's finest bakeries. It was after this sunny Saturday in August that I thought about blogging and sharing my love for food and crafts.

Now I will hand over to Kat to share with you the tales of this incredible day.

In the quest for the perfect cupcakes, luscious chocolates, and mouth-watering macaroons, Mel and I ventured to several sites throughout London one Saturday. Our adventure took us to both well- and lesser-known establishments.

In preparation, I trawled the internet for inspiration and advice on places to visit in London, and we were not let down by the suggestions. The day was jam-packed (mmmm…jam) so I will give you the highlights.

DIY Framed Crayon Letter for under £20

It's project time again.

Click here for The Letteroom Crayon M Framed 3D Artwork - from John Lewis
John Lewis - £60

I am sure everybody has seen these around, I think the are fantastic, vibrant, colourful and great for a craft room or kids room!! BUT. . .  at £60 from John Lewis, The Letterooms Crayon M framed 3D artwork is a little too pricey, so I thought I would try making my own.

Homemade Red Pesto

Now I absolutely love Borough Market and in particular one stall, Borough Olives!! Their stall is packed with wooden barrels of fresh ingredients, a variety of stuffed olives, feta cheese, sun dried tomatoes, an incredible balsamic glaze and the most amazing green and red pesto. The staff are always very helpful and give great suggestions and tips as well as letting you taste before you buy :-)

Easy Envelope Cushion Tutorial

I have been wanting to do this project for a while but I just hadn't found the fabric I wanted.
As you will know, I found it! At the Creative Stitches, Fashion Embroidery & Hobbycrafts Show two weeks ago.

I am not an expert at sewing and I bought my first sewing machine only a couple of months ago but this is an ideal beginner project.

So let's get started!

Creative Stitches, Fashion Embroidery & Hobbycrafts show

This weekend I traded in the baking for the Creative Stitches, Fashion Embroidery & Hobbycrafts show (wow that's a mouthful). It was at the ExCeL Centre, London and my friend Stacey joined me. The ExCeL is a great location, jumping off the DLR at Prince Regent and strolling straight in was so convenient. It was £10 entry which is a great price however, we did miss out on a half price ticket with Groupon - really need to start checking the deal websites more often!!

Gâche Melée

Gâche Melée, pronounced "Gosh Mel-Are" is a traditional Guernsey dish, commonly made with suet to make a heavy apple cake. There are soo many variations of this recipe but this is my take and again its super simple.
